JayTV Inc. was created in May of 2000 by Jay Shatz, an Emmy Award winning former reporter at WCPO-TV Cincinnati. Slowly but surely, Jay strong armed some of the best and brightest of the Channel 9 newsroom to leave the station and join him in building a television production company. 8 years later, this aging yet agile team of former newsies now gets much joy watching other people do live shots during snowstorms.
Today, JayTV produces programming for cable television networks including DIY and Fine Living. JayTV has also assembled a diverse collection of corporate clients ranging from Cincinnati Children's Hospital to Procter and Gamble. We have won national honors for video materials marketing the Tri-Health Hospital System. The Cincinnati Business Courier has also recognized the company for it's fast growth and selected Jay as one of the Tri-State's "40 Under 40" business leaders (o.k, he got in several years ago under the wire).
In 2002, Jay's life partner Stan Elliott joined the team as co-owner bringing his talent, temperament, clean desk and Master Gardening skills to the company. As a result, JayTV is now focused on producing television programs celebrating the joys and challenges of landscaping and home improvement. At any given moment, our production team is working with homeowners in cities including Phoenix, Atlanta, Nashville and of course our home base here in the Cincinnati. We take great pride in being able to schedule shoots in warmer climates like West Palm Beach and Jacksonville Florida when our former TV news co-workers are doing live shots during snowstorms.
In late 2007, JayTV purchased an historic building in Covington, Kentucky once home to a turn of the century embalmer (there is some odd symbolism, right?). We have created a high tech 3,000 square foot production facility and are proud to be part of the urban renewal effort to create an Arts and Technology distict in this a struggling old neighborhood.
At the core of JayTV's success is a commitment to support the efforts of the United Way and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati. In addition to volunteer efforts, JayTV is proud to be a Tocqueville Society donor to the United Way and a 20 year donor to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati.
